Happy New Year
I hope you all had a happy and peaceful Christmas. Apart from a few instagram updates (which you can catch up with here) I managed to spend a whole two weeks away from my desk, emails and social media, which is probably the longest break I have ever taken from Design Hunter. After just over five years of blogging, and in an online world that feels increasingly busy, and sometimes all consuming, I felt it was really important to impose some down time upon myself and instead spend time with friends and family offline. So I was interested to read Laura Atkinson in The Sunday Times over the weekend predicting that 2015 will be the year some people start to pull back from building their own personal 'brands' on Instagram and other social media platforms. She suggests that recognising 'The Power of Anon', or learning to protect our identities from overbranding, will be something more of us will strive towards this year. It's an interesting prediction and I'd love to hear what you think. Is social media taking over your life? Are you planning to take a different approach to managing your online presence this year? I think there is definitely an argument for quality over quantity, so that's something I'm going to be trying to keep in mind as the year unfolds.
Anyway while I reflect on my resolutions and goals for the new year and generally ease myself gently back into things, I'm going to kick things off with a round up of some of the most popular posts from 2014 on Design Hunter.
Happy New Year!
