A new Acapulco chair
A celebrated design of the 1950s, the Acapulco chair orginates from the area around the famous La Quebrada cliffs in Acapulco Bay - in its heyday a playground for Hollywood stars like Frank Sinatra and Elizabeth Taylor (who married Mike Todd there in the third of her eight weddings).
Now the design has been reimagined by The Common Project, a group of designers and architects from Los Angeles, Barcelona and Mexico who share the goal of creating intelligent and authentic products and celebrating the processes and stories behind them.
Combining mid-century style with a re-appreciation of artisan weaving techniques, it's a design that's equally at home indoors in the living room, or outdoors on a terrace or poolside.
Will someone pour me a mojito please.
