Concrete Couture

Hungarian concrete design company Ivanka launced the world's first 'concrete' ready to wear and accessories collection 'Concrete Genezis' at Paris Fashion Week last month.
The handmade conceptual pieces in the clothing range were developed via a new textile innovation based on the aesthetic qualities of concrete and made their debut alongside an accessories collection that includes clutch bags, day bags, ipad sleeves and laptop cases made of real concrete and leather.
The company describes the collection as drawing a line from "a raw masculine look to finer classic femininity". Visualizing today's modern urban woman and building on the dualism of fragility and power, its aim is to illustrate the contrast between hard concrete and soft textiles or classic shapes in a modern context.
