Stellar by Jake Phipps
Faceted designs inspired by naturally ocurring geometrical formations found in science and nature seem to be everywhere right now. It's a trend I wrote about here and one I'm noticing more and more, not only in interiors but also in jewellery, fashion and architecture. I could easily devote a whole week's worth of blog posts to the subject.
This 'Stellar' mirror by Jake Phipps takes inspiration from cut diamonds. It's comprised of 750 individually sized and angled mirror sections that form a faceted ring, catching the light from all directions, and creating an 'optical dispersion' effect. The colour and lustre of the surface changes as the light shifts throughout the day.
The 'Stellar' range also includes a console table inspired by amethyst geodes, featuring a turbulent seam of angled mirrors contrasted against an expansive smooth surface.
Both have been produced in a limited edition of 25.
