Design daydreaming: Interiors Style & Spirit at Christies

OK, let's play fantasy design shopping. There was lots to lust after in yesterday's Interiors Style and Spirit sale at Christies in London. This Italian stained mahogany and carved lime cocktail cabinet /sideboard was the first thing to catch my eye...

...closely followed by this library cabinet in painted wood and varnished walnut by A. Carlo Alberto Bodogna and Piero Fornasetti.

The 'Papa Bear' lounge chair and ottoman (above) designed by Hans Wegner in 1951 went for £4375 and Ron Arad's 'Rover' chair (below) reached a hammer price of £6,875.

How about this pair of mid-century brass occasional tables?

In the market for a new desk? This walnut steel Ambassadors desk would have set you back £1750. It was created for a 2003 touring exhibition in China in which Tom Dixon designed a drawing room for a British ambassador. He commissioned PearsonLloyd to design this desk for the installation.

My budget might not stretch to Christies but I have to confess that I am a bit of an auction addict. Time for a blog post to update you all on some of my more recent saleroom acquisitions perhaps? Have you ever bought a piece of furniture at auction?
