The May Design Series

After last year's London Design Festival Julie Lasky memorably wrote in the New York Times:

"Apologies to Milan and Tokyo. Regrets to Stockholm and Paris. Forgive me, Eindhoven, Berlin, Barcelona and, most particularly, New York. But London is the design capital of the world."

This May sees the addition of some exciting new dates to the London design calendar, further increasing the city's offering. The May Design Series, which will take place at Excel from 19-21 May, brings together the already established shows kbb LDN and The Arc Show with two brand new events - Interiors LDN and DX. I'm delighted to announce that Design Hunter is a media partner for these events.

With Ab Rogers having been commissioned to design an innovative show experience the May Design Series promises to be an exciting new destination for the interior design, property, architectural and retail communities. Rogers, who as well as being known for his wide-ranging international practice, was also recently appointed to head up the new interior design course at the Royal College of Art, aims to create "a new type of trade show which feels quite different to what is out there now."

His design for the event is characterised by strong lines and distinctive forms, a “Matisse-like collection of planes” that will tie the space together visually and embody the May Design Series identity.

Amongst the exhibitors confirmed so far are Ligne Roset, Poggenpohl, Rolf Benz, Timorous Beasties, Erco and iGuzzini. Design Hunter is very pleased to be associated with this exciting new event. Here's an overview of what each of the four shows will offer. I'll be featuring further news and updates in the run up to the event.

Ligne Roset

DX

DX is a new event that will reflect the dynamic convergence of design, art, architecture, technology and manufacturing. The exhibition will bring together a hand-picked selection of cutting-edge products, ideas and solutions for contract and domestic interiors from across the globe in a ground-breaking environment.

Guerilla showroom areas will feature live installations and demonstrations and there'll also be a conversation series with a packed speaker programme exploring new directions and developments in design, art and technology.

Erco

The ARC Show

Well established in its own right, The ARC Show will join forces with the May Design Series to further develop its position as ‘the’ leading architectural and decorative lighting exhibition, and to showcase lighting as part of the wider built environment. Developed in unison with mondo*arc magazine, the show provides a creative and intelligent lighting exhibition for architectural, retail, interior design and property communities. Exhibitors confirmed to date include Erco, iGuzzini, KKDC and Astro Lighting.

Boca do Lobo

Interiors LDN

Following on from Interiors UK at the NEC, Interiors LDN is a new event that will showcase the best contemporary British and international design in furniture and interiors for the mid to high-end market. It will feature a handpicked list of exhibitors including Spectral, Rolf Benz, Boca Do Lobo, Sharon Marston, Timorous Beasties, James UK and Deadgood.

Poggenpohl

kbb LDN

kbb LDN is a trade exhibition dedicated to kitchens, bedrooms & bathrooms, featuring the best international and British manufacturers in the sector. Visitors will be able to see the latest product launches from around the world, meet with key suppliers and find out about future trends and pioneering developments in the show's Innovation Centre.
