Stone Garden by Nendo

Japanse design studio Nendo have collaborated with quartz surface manufacturer Caesarstone to create an installation of 'table-like' surfaces clustered together to form a seemingly floating landscape.

Stone garden, which like previous Nendo projects exemplifies a simple, minimalistic beauty, was presented at the Interior Design Show in Toronto last month.

The tables are supported by a simple metal rod, secured in place by an overlapping design and are arranged to create a composition that resembles the stylized landscape of a Japanese rock garden.

Oki Sato, founder and chief designer of Nendo says "The installation explores the boundary between 'furniture' and  'non-furniture'. Tables that aren't quite tables form a cluster, creating a new kind of ground surface like a garden floating in the universe, far beyond the scale of individual tables."

This is the first of a series of cutting edge design collaborations planned by Caesarstone. The company is already working on another high profile collaboration for Milan design week. We wait with anticipation.
