A poolside garden pavilion in Melbourne
To breathe new life into this inner Melbourne backyard, design studio Molecule, removed the existing poolside changing shed and replaced the 'solid' of a building with the 'void' of a habitable outdoor room.
Defined by an open cube made of Cypress, and with construction details left deliberately rudimentary and exposed, the structure rises from a hardwood deck that hovers over its planted border. By drawing the eye upwards the pavilion highlights the surrounding presence of ancient local trees.
The result is a sense of space without enclosure - a perfect place to gather, dwell, eat, socialise and enjoy the outdoors.
