Covent Garden apartment | Spring and Mercer

Designer Sophie Ashby of Spring and Mercer has created a vision of elegant, urban living at its most desirable in this three bedroom apartment situated in a Georgian building in Covent Garden with views over the piazza.

The interiors are a blend of custom pieces and period finds. Sophie sourced Italian mid century pieces from Alfies Antique Market and various other dealers around London. Carefully selected contemporary artwork adds depth, emotion and individuality - the paintings over the sideboard in the image above are by artist Ben Lowe.

Italian mid-century armchairs create a strong presence and a sense of symmetry in the living room

A bowl of walnuts rests on a marble topped coffee table. The oatmeal coloured ribbed carpet provides a soft, textural contrast.

The beds are custom pieces. The series of prints in the blue bedroom is by Ben Lowe who also provided some of the artwork for the living room, while the painting in the yellow bedroom is by Daisy Cook.

"The brief was to create something sophisticated, grown up and elegant to fit the target market of a slightly older British buyer drawn by the pull of theatre land, the Royal Opera House and the hustle and bustle of Covent Garden" said Sophie, "and that is exactly who bought it 3 weeks after I finished!"
