Style Radar | May

There's lots happening this month so here's a quick round up some of the the news, products and events that have made their way onto my radar recently.

1. A new home for The New Craftsmen

After their successful pop up shop last year, The New Craftsmen have announced plans to open a new permanent shop in Mayfair. Opening next month, the store will offer a mix of pieces that celebrate the heritage of British craftsmanship. It will also include space set aside for workshops, talks and demonstrations and a dedicated commissioning area for those looking for something bespoke.

2. Conran launch a new paint range

Conran have recently launched a new paint range with colours inspired by the plants and landscapes of the English countryside. There are five different collections, and with evocatively named shades like Yorkshire Fog, Dandelion Puff and (my own personal favourite) Scarecrow's Finger to tempt me, I'm looking forward to trying them out for one of my next projects.

3. Anglepoise collaborate with Paul Smith

Two of Britain's best loved design brands, Anglepoise and Paul Smith have teamed up to create a new interpretation of the Type 75 table lamp. I can't help wondering how many UK homes you'd find at least one of these classic designs in? (We have two - one in my office and another in Graham's studio.) The new design is being kept under wraps until its Clerkenwell launch next week, but this close up offers a taster.

4. The Spring Clean

The Spring Clean is an interior design pop up sale that aims to raise funds for Kids Company by selling collectable one off and bespoke furnishings, fabrics, art and photography donated by the design community.

Designers involved include Nina Campbell and Martin Brudnizki, and if the event's Instagram feed is anything to go by there will be some stunning pieces on sale, including this Lumerston sofa donated by David Seyfried.

The event promises to offer a fun day out and takes place from 30 May to 1 June at 28 Redchurch Street, Shoreditch, London, E2 7DP.

5. The Leica T System

Leica will be presenting their new T-System camera at Clerkenwell Design Week this month. Milled from a single block of aluminium, it strives for minimalist perfection with its pure, clean lines, smooth surfaces and timeless, sleek aesthetic.

Discover one over a cup of coffee in the Design Factory's retail zone from 20-22 May.
