5 minutes with... jewellery designer Jana Reinhardt

Born in East Germany, Jana Reinhardt is a classically trained goldsmith and jewellery designer who divides her time between her London office and a workshop by the sea in Worthing, West Sussex. Working alongside her husband Ross, who is also a trained goldsmith, she creates contemporary jewellery designs that are made entirely by hand, using traditional methods of fabrication and wax carving.

Which three words best describe your jewellery?

Sweet, chic, unique.

If you had to choose one thing to wear for the rest of your life what would it be and why?

I would probably choose my tiny handmade eternity ring which I wear on my little finger. My business partner and husband Ross made it for me the day after our daughter was born. It is super fine, made from 18ct yellow gold and set with tiny bright yellow diamonds. It's also engraved with something cute on the inside, but that's a secret.

Who or what inspires you?

I am inspired by naive art and wildlife, particularly pretty creatures or plants. I like it when you can capture the essence of something in as little detail as possible.

Where's your favourite place to be?

Walking on Worthing beach with my husband, daughter and our beagle.

What would you be if you weren't a jewellery designer?

A lady of leisure!

What's your motto?

You catch more flies with honey than with vinegar.
