The Amara Interior Blog Awards 2015
I am so very happy to share the news that Design Hunter received the award for 'Best Luxury Blog' in the 2015 Amara Interior Blog Awards on Wednesday evening.
After I received this award at last year's event the idea that I might be lucky enough to pick up the same title again this year was, quite simply, beyond my wildest dreams, so I really am absolutely overjoyed.
The team at Amara, who have worked incredibly hard over many months to organise this event, hosted a wonderful evening at the Kit Kemp designed Ham Yard Hotel in London. After enjoying cocktails in the hotel's Dive Bar we made our way into the Ham Yard Theatre for the awards ceremony which was wonderfully compered by stylist and TV presenter Sophie Robinson. I'm a huge fan of the Great Interior Design Challenge which Sophie co-presents, and am already looking forward to series 3, which she revealed, is due to air in the new year. Sophie announced the awards with a warmth and light-heartedness which helped calm any pre-ceremony nerves while we sat in the theatre's bright orange leather seats waiting for the names of the winners to be revealed.
The purpose of any awards ceremony is of course to highlight and celebrate talent and achievement and to bring it to public attention. It was lovely to see so many familiar faces from the blogging world, but equally exciting to discover lots of amazing new talent and also to come across one or two more long established blogs that to my shame I hadn't previously been familiar with. Do head over to the Amara Interior Blog Awards website to check them all out.
Over the past six years blogging has afforded me many amazing opportunities. There have been lots of highs, but as with anything, sometimes there are lows too. There are moments when self doubt creeps in and times when it feels hard to maintain a relentlessly upbeat presence on social media. I don't usually share those moments here on Design Hunter but some of the bloggers I most admire (Grace Bonney of Design Sponge, Holly Becker of Decor8 and Tiffany of Curate and Display) have written very eloquently about this.
Your support in helping me win this award, along with the many kind messages of congratulations I have received, has reminded me how very lucky I am to be able to do what I do, and to be part of such an incredibly warm, friendly and supportive community of interiors bloggers. From the bottom of my heart, thank you!
Finally, a note of thanks to the wonderful team at Amara and all the sponsors, including headline partners Firmdale Hotels and GP & J Baker and also to Roberto Cavalli who sponsored my award category.
I somehow managed to hide from the official photographer all evening, but here's a rather badly lit iPhone snap of me proudly holding up my award.
