Ilse Crawford for Ikea

Ikea have just unveiled their new Sinnerlig collection by Ilse Crawford at Stockholm Design Week.

I've long been an admirer of Ilse Crawford's human centred approach design and it's exciting to see this expressed in a series of affordable pieces that many people will be able to incorporate into their own homes.

What I find most appealing about the collection (and this won't come as a surprise to anyone familiar with her work) is the fact that Crawford has eschewed the opportunity to create the type of shouty statement pieces that many designers favour, and has instead designed a collection that will easily blend in alongside the owner's existing furniture and belongings.

The deliberately low key collection is designed to "fit into people's lives" she told Dezeen earlier this week.

The collection will be available online and in Ikea stores from August. I'm already bookmarking the date.
