Style & Simplicity | Studio by Silentnight
Have you discovered Studio by Silentnight yet?
When the new brand recently launched I was immediately struck by the clean minimal look and simple understated design of their beds and mattresses. So I was delighted when they got in touch and invited me to try one out for myself.
And because I now have heaps of space in the new studio I couldn't resist the opportunity to style and photograph it here first before taking it home and putting it to the test. It is such a joy to be able to work in a larger space and I'm really excited for all the new possibilities it opens up.
The Studio by Silentnight concept is all about style and simplicity. The beds are desigend to offer a great night's sleep, but they've also clearly given a lot of thought to how an item as important as a bed fits in with our modern lifestyles.
You can create your own bespoke bed in four steps. First you choose from one of three different designs - Geometric, a winged design with bold lines, Curve with its softer silhouette, or the clean minimalist shape of Simplicity. Then you choose a colour. There's ebony for a sophisticated look, slate grey or natural for understated Scandi style or teal for those who prefer something a little brighter. Next you add clever built in storage for practicality. And finally you choose the bed size and pick a mattress - three different comfort ratings are available so you can choose from soft, medium or firm.
We opted for the Simplicity bed in slate grey. It arrived in three sections (handy if you need to carry it upstairs via an awkward hallway or landing, or move it from one room to another), but the assembly required is very minimal and it only took us a few minutes to put it together. The mattress comes rolled up and vacuum packed in a box. After unboxing you just need to allow it to 'breathe' for an hour or so and then it's ready to use.
So far I've only tried it out for a quick nap at the studio so I'll report back fully later. But from first impressions it is incredibly soft to the touch and feels supportive and comfortable, contouring to the body much more than our current mattress. Memory foam is also hypoallergenic, so it's a good option for anyone who suffers from asthma or allergies. I've wanted to switch our existing mattress over to a hypoallergenic one for a while now so I'm really excited to try it out.
Meanwhile here's a quick unboxing and 60 second makeover video I made.
