Contemporary handmade quilts by Louise Gray
Do you ever feel that a room isn’t quite ‘finished’ and yet you can’t quite put your finger on what’s missing? The bedroom was the first room we tackled when we moved into our new house and I was pretty happy with how it turned out, but if I’m being honest it was perhaps lacking a focal point. I toyed with the idea of getting a headboard but struggled to find one I liked and anyway I wasn’t quite sure if that was the fix I was looking for. Then I came across Louise Gray’s range of beautiful contemporary quilts and knew straight away that the simple geometric designs and the soft, muted colour palette would work perfectly in our bedroom
The quilts come in various sizes. The larger ones will fit a king size bed while the smaller ones can be used as a throw, or on a cot or small bed. Louise Gray have also produced a range of wooden hangers so that you can mount them on the wall and display them as a piece of art. They are beautifully handmade by artisans in Minneapolis and the simple geometric patterns lend themselves to this really well. You can even buy them as prints.
The quilt hangers are available in a range of different woods including hickory or walnut. You can also choose custom hardware finishes to complement your interior - black, brass or silver. The one I opted for is the Pepin Little Quilt with a black hanger and silver hardware.
I really love how it seems to pull everything else in the room together. I deliberated for ages before choosing this design as I could honestly have chosen pretty much any one of the quilts in the Louise Gray collection - they are all so lovely. Here’s a look at just a few of the other designs that are available.
