Bedroom Makeover
Over the past few weeks we’ve been working on giving our bedroom a bit of a makeover – and here’s the reveal! Gone are the old sludgy grey green walls and instead we’ve opted for a clean monochrome look (with a hint of taupe) and lots of soft textiles to add texture and comfort.
You might remember that a little while ago I mentioned that Design Hunter was working on a couple of projects with The White Company. After my guest edit of their blog last month, in today’s post I’ve selected a few items from their current collection and used them as finishing touches to complete our bedroom makeover project.
I shot the images myself using my old and fairly basic DSLR, and although my photography skills are limited, I’m pretty pleased with the results!
I tested out a number of home fragrances from The White Company and in the end opted for Noir. It’s sensuous, warming and contemporary with notes of amber, mandarin and musky sandalwood. I also really liked Seychelles which has balmy notes of coconut and vanilla that evoke summer island breezes – a perfect choice at this time of year. The English Garden candles were another favourite.
For the bed, which was made by my wonderfully clever and creative husband Mr P, because we couldn’t find one that was quite what we were looking for, I chose The White Company’s Belvedere bed linen. It’s made of 600 thread count Egyptian cotton sateen, has a subtle stripe created by the contrast of herringbone and plain weaves and is finished off with a border of smart piping. Small details make all the difference. As I wrote when I chose this as one of my summer picks for the White Company’s blog, it is quite simply the most luxurious bed linen I have ever owned, and is unmatched by anything I’ve ever come across in a hotel. It’s impossible to overstate just how amazing this feels against your skin.
I know that many of my readers love colour and pattern, but in running this blog I am bombarded with so much design stimulation all day long that it was important to me to create a space I can retreat to at the end of the day that feels free of distracting elements like colour and pattern. I wanted our bedroom to feel soft, calm, clean and cocooning. A place to empty my head of the day’s thoughts, a space for renewal and restoration…
…. and somewhere to enjoy a digital detox with a good book.
Hope you’ve enjoyed this little glimpse inside my home!
Noir scent diffuser – £35 | Belvedere bed linen – from £35 | Glass carafe and tubmbler set – £25
Thank you to The White Company for supplying the items featured in this post.

Your bedroom looks absolutely stunning! You did a fantastic job. It looks so bright and lively in there. A great space to catch a couple ZZ's.

Your bedroom looks lovely and fresh. What was the colour of the walls? They look a subtle off-white. The pictures are very good too!

Thanks Sally. I wanted to try to keep things as simple as possible but with lots of texture too so that it feels comfortable and inviting too.

Thanks for your kind comments. The walls are painted in 'All White' by Farrow and Ball, which is actually a much purer white than it looks in these images

You're such a temptress.
Today I ordered a double, 600 thread count flat sheet and a Seychelles diffuser for my guest room.
Guests should be comfortable.
