Space Saving sophistication: the Jasper Sofa Bed from British Design Shop

ByHelen Powell Last updated

Urban living often calls for creative space solutions. While most of us need to accommodate guests from time to time, we don’t all have the luxury of a spare bedroom. Even if we do have an extra room, there’s a good chance that it also needs to double up as a home office.

For those living in smaller homes or apartments where space is at a premium, the new Jasper sofa bed from British Design Shop offers an ideal solution. This versatile piece of furniture offers a stylish seating solution during the day and transforms into a welcoming bed by night, all while maintaining its clean, elegant lines and sophisticated appearance.

Having worked with British Design Shop for a number of years now, I’m continually impressed by their commitment to exceptional design, quality and craftsmanship. So when they invited me to take a look at their latest piece I was keen to test it out.

From sofa to bed in one simple action

The Jasper sofa bed is crafted with the same attention to detail as the other pieces in British Design Shop range. At first glance, it’s a sleek and stylish sofa that complements any interior. The clean lines and premium upholstery exude sophistication, making it a statement piece in its own right.

But what sets it apart is its effortless transformation into a comfortable sofa bed. With just one simple action this elegant sofa becomes a plush and comfortable bed, making it ideal for unexpected guests or spontaneous movie nights.

Ideal for compact living

Whether you’re a city dweller with limited space or a design enthusiast who values versatility, the Jasper sofa bed ticks all the right boxes. Its adaptability, combined with its aesthetic appeal and craftsmanship, ensures it offers the perfect marriage of form and function.

One of the things I really love about British Design Shop is the wide range of premium fabric options they offer. The Jasper sofa bed is shown here in premium boucle natural, but other options include linen and a luxury stain guard cotton. Plus, whether you’re a fan of bold colours or muted neutrals you’re sure to find a colour to suit your taste.

With its sophisticated style and clever convertible design, the Jasper sofa bed is the ultimate space-saving solution. Form and function harmoniously combine in one adaptable piece that elegantly solves the dilemma of accommodating guests in compact homes.

If you’re short on space but still want seating that impresses, the Jasper sofa bed delivers.

New collaboration between Sheila Bownas & Parlour

Here’s a first look at the new collection from the Sheila Bownas archive which will be released next month. I wrote about the story behind the Sheila Bownas archive last year on Design Hunter. You can find out more here if you missed it.

Now Chelsea Cefai who uncovered the archive has collaborated with furniture brand Parlour to produce a sofa inspired by the daybeds of the 1950s, featuring the ‘Edwin’ pattern designed by Sheila Bownas in the late 1950s.
