Store decor | a Japandi style interior for shoe brand Notabene

Japanese lifestyle brand Karimoku Case Study have presented their fifth case study project – a holistic flagship store for shoe brand Notabene with interior design and bespoke furniture by Norm Architects.

Located over three floors, the Copenhagen concept store includes a retail space, fitting area, shoeshine area, coffee shop and lounge. There’s also a mezzanine space with a Creative Shoe Lab where customers can view sketches, material samples and prototypes of the upcoming collections.

The raw structure of the building has been preserved, retaining traces of previous use within a design scheme that features exposed concrete, double height ceilings, terrazzo flooring and refined cabinetry.

Several bespoke furniture pieces were designed and made specifically for the project, including a sofa and matching lounge chair that provide a comfortable seating area in the in house coffee shop. The coffee table and side table (which serve as display stands) were also designed for the project.

The design language focuses on a select palette of colours and materials – brutalist concrete complemented by light oak, hand brushed aluminium shelving, transparent curtains, lush bouclé fabrics and sculptural display stands.

The result is a calm and tactile space, a relaxed, refined and luxurious interior that provides a pleasant and coherent brand experience and invites visitors to linger.
