Bohemian luxury in Mykonos
After starting out as a six-month temporal destination last summer, San Giorgio Mykonos will reopen in May for its second season. A collaboration between Design Hotels and Thomas Heyne and Mario Hertel (the creative minds behind Mykonos’ infamous Paradise Club), the hotel is a laid back and off radar retreat, designed to be a haven for free spirited and like minded creative individuals. Staying there has been described as like visiting the summer home of your coolest friend.
The light and airy interiors, by design entrepreneur and former Creative Director of Design Hotels Michael Shickinger and interior designer and stylist Annabell Kutucu, blend history, heritage and simplicity. Crisp whitewashed walls are tempered by the occasional splash of colour from carefully chosen acessories and there’s a deliberate spotlight on origin and craftsmanship – traditional Greek woven top stools for example, or an off kilter chair.
The spacious modern bathrooms include a range of organic products to seduce you after a long day of sea and sun.
New for 2013 is a community-centric restaurant concept where guests will be invited to mingle over an authentic home style feast with fresh from the market ingredients served up at long rough hewn tables.
Rates start at €150 per night.
