Inside Seville’s newest design hotel
Opening its doors this autumn, Plácido y Grata is is a new boutique hotel located in an historic 19th century manor house in the centre of Seville. Designed by Barcelona based architecture and interior design studio Your Living Space Atelier, the hotel combines the best of old and new, seamlessly integrating contemporary Scandinavian minimalist design into the traditional Sevillian architecture. There are 15 rooms including suites, standard and deluxe rooms. There’s also a café, a cocktail bar with patio and a shop.
The original fabric of the building, with its historic arcades, marble columns and beamed ceilings, has been updated with modern materials and elegant architectural solutions. A carefully curated edit of Nordic design includes furniture and lighting from Skagerak, Ferm Living, Menu Studio, Fredericia, Fritz Hansen, & Tradition, Muuto and Frama.
Architect and interior designer Marta and Carlota approached the project in a holistic way, using high quality materials throughout and aiming to create functional spaces that elicit an emotional response. Harmonious simple lines, smooth surfaces and a natural colour palette sun-kissed by the warm light of Seville promote a feeling of well-being. The result is a calm, welcoming environment for both visitors and locals to enjoy – a haven of Nordic design and a peaceful oasis in the heart of the city.

The rooms are peaceful and harmonious – sun kissed by the warm light and designed to promote a feeling of well being. The Caravaggio Read wall lamp from Fritz Hansen provides simple, minimalist bedside lighting.
Soft, warm terracotta tones in the bathroom harmonise with the colour and material palette used elsewhere throughout the hotel.
Crafted from sustainably sourced oak, the Georg stool and desk by Skagerak exude simplicity and provide minimal distraction.
