Monolith & Fields – contemporary rugs inspired by the Nordic landscape

New this month from Nordic Knots, Monolith & Fields is a collection of contemporary hand knotted wool rugs inspired by the Nordic light, colours and landscape.

Monolith takes its inspiration from giant boulders on the landscape of Skåne in southern Sweden. Silhouetted against the sky, the mystical monuments which were erected around 1400 years ago towards the end of the Nordic iron age, convey a sense of presence, magnitude and timelessness.

Fields with its soft, shaggy weave, reflects the mood and texture of the landscape surrounding the monoliths. The colour palette – anthracite, sand and dusty white – was chosen to represent the changing tones of the nearby wheat fields throughout the seasons.Mon01.jpg

With an understated minimalist aesthetic the rugs are artisan made in small batches via ethical production practices and are Goodweave certified.
